Merrylands Road Aged Care
Team2 were appointed for the design and delivery of a new independent aged care residence in Merrylands.
The care home is to be a state of the art facility accommodating 90 resident rooms carefully integrated within the communal facilities. The large suburban site offers a fabulously landscaped setting for the enjoyment of all residents.
It was important to carefully consider the architectural treatment of this large building proposed in a residential suburb. Special attention was paid to the brick facades which have an extruded feature detail providing depth and interest to the large areas of brickwork. In addition, metal clad window boxes were proposed in singles or pairs for the residents rooms which add a wonderful display or sitting area to the room. The curved metal sheet roofs top the brick facades and are designed in separate sections across the building which help soften and break down the overall massing. DA was granted in 2021.
