Ambulance Station Hotel
Team2 were commissioned to prepare designs for the conversion and repurposing of the former NSW Ambulance Station in Auburn into a new pub for the Nelson Meers Hotel Group.
Opened in 2021, the ground floor accommodates a new bar, amenities and gaming room whilst the upper floor is the location for the main public bar and casual dining facilities as well as a TAB area. The layout was strategically arranged to ensure the first floor utilised the natural light, existing heritage windows while still including a compact kitchen and bar while meeting the brief for the client.

The key heritage features are the brickwork which contrasts to the new additions of the glass elevator with black structural steel, and light coloured and checkerboard flooring. The gaming room also features exposed original heritage joists.
The original Ambulance Logo was used graphically throughout the building, using the colours with the old shield shape as a repeating element to connect to the history of the building. The Colour palate reflects the original colours used in Ambulance NSW stations.
