Campbelltown Mental Health (Building B)
Following our successful collaboration with GenesisCare, NorthWest Health, and Erilyan on the Campbelltown Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Team2 was commissioned to prepare detailed plans for a new sub-acute mental health facility as part of the wider masterplan of the site.
The new facility contains 90 light-filled, resort-style inpatient rooms, generous outdoor terraces and communal areas, and a designated Day Programme. It demonstrates the practice’s evolution of this specialised building typology in terms of best practice patient care and architectural excellence.
The Team2 design solution employs a rigorous yet complex interplay of forms and materials, broken up by large-scale glazed interventions corresponding to the public spaces dispersed across the building. The materiality of masonry, reconstituted timber, and glazing has been carefully considered for its durability, warmth, and ease of maintenance.
Team2 worked closely with the contractor to ensure that the highly architectural façade met strict cost requirements.
