Team2 Architects have completed the design and delivery of another milestone at Westmead Hospital, this time the new Finance Department. Designed for 70 staff, the new workplace provides Activity Based Work (ABW) accommodation that supports “New Ways of Working” (NWOW) concepts to optimise work practices against activities.
New Ways of Working (NWOW) is a collaborative process determined by the input of Westmead staff. The Western Sydney Local Health District’s (WSLHD) brief was to create a welcoming workplace that enhances an integrated way of working, connecting healthcare to the community.
As part of the major changes occurring throughout the Westmead Redevelopment including significant upgrades to workplace ICT services and operational structures, the new Finance Department represents the changing nature of healthcare and the evolution of research and further education.
The design includes a variety of spaces for low to high focus activities and collaboration and creativity zones. The large communal kitchen hub provides a variety of work & gathering opportunities including sit to stand desking. Raised data access flooring allows for complete flexibility and adaptability.
The philosophy of News Ways of Working has been adopted by the Western Sydney Local Health District with the Westmead Redevelopment being the first to implement the concept.
